SPEAKER LINE-UP UNVEILED FOR THE AFRICA VALUATION CONFERENCE 2024

5 February 2024, Johannesburg. Preparations are well underway for the Africa Valuation Conference 2024, with industry experts lined-up for the most comprehensive mega-gathering of valuation professionals on the African continent. Taking place from 16th to 18th April at the Sandton Convention Centre, the international event aims to elevate the valuation profession to experience a bold new future, with attendees expected to interact with presentations on property valuation practices and standards from experts and leading speakers on the African continent and from other parts of the world. In 2023, the conference was opened by the South Africa Government’s Minister of Public Works and Infrastructure, Sihle Zikalala and it also contributed to the promotion of international trade on the continent.

Announcing the confirmed speakers, conference co-ordinator Mashilo Pitjeng said attendees will participate in debates and discussions with various panels of experts offering global valuation expertise. “This Africa-wide conference serves to be the number one event for valuation knowledge, market insights and professional development, whilst giving attendees the opportunity to discuss driving the Africa Trade Agreement,” states Pitjeng.

Speakers announced include Douglas Summa, vice chairman of the International Valuation Standards Council (IVSC); Charles Golding, senior specialist in valuation and investment advisory at the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS); Patrick Alesandrini, president of the International Association of Assessing Officers (IAAO); Dr Audrey Kwangwama, chairperson of the Valuers Council of Zimbabwe (VCZ); Prof Ephraim Munshifwa, chairperson of the Zambia Institute of Valuation and Surveyors (ZIVS); John Mugisha, chairperson of the Institute of Real Property Valuers Rwanda (IRPV); Maje Maje, co-founder of Apex Properties Botswana; Kura Chihota, property consultant at EXP Realty Zimbabwe; Dianne de Wet, president of the South Africa Institute of Valuers (SAIV); John Cloete, president of the South African Council for the Property Valuers Professions (SACPVP); Motlatso Maloka, acting valuer-general in the Office of the Valuer-General in South Africa; Riaan Christopher Fourie, head of valuation for Africa at CBRE Excellerate; Sean Godoy, co-founder of the SA Proptech and Africa Proptech; Francisco Neshila, president of the Namibia Institute of Town & Regional Planning; and Sethebe Manake, CEO of Gosmartvalue.

“More experts will be added to the speaker line-up and we are looking forward to welcoming delegates from all corners of the globe. Attendees will get the opportunity to network with other industry professionals, participate in interactive discussions with speakers, and get hands-on experience with the latest valuation technologies,” concludes Pitjeng.

The Africa Valuation Conference is organized by the Academy of Construction and Real Estate (ACRE) and co-ordinated by an advisory board comprising regulatory bodies and industry organizations in the valuation profession from 7 countries. The event offers valuation knowledge that facilitates professional development for practitioners while focused on assisting participating employers and corporations with valuation training for business growth needs. Participation countries include but are not limited to the United States of America, United Kingdon, South Africa, Nigeria, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Ghana, Botswana, Malawi, Lesotho, Rwanda, Namibia and Kenya. Attendees will listen into exciting sessions on the property and finance industries and gain knowledge about valuation practices on the continent.
